Thinking about volunteering?
In little more than a year, the Imagination Library of Montgomery county, VA has reached 2200
preschool age children in the county and seen over 20,000 books mailed to them!
This is an all volunteer effort and you might like to be a part of it…we reach parents so that they
can enroll their children. That involves getting materials to schools, medical office, street fairs,
churches, and many other venues. While most want materials electronically, we also distribute
hard copies of posters and enrollment forms.
We also raise money to pay for the books (with a cost share from the Commonwealth of
Virginia). We identify businesses that might do a “donation day” or otherwise support us. Also,
there are many social or civic groups that support us as well.. Identifying possible grant
opportunities and applying is a big help.
Volunteers meet irregularly (maybe every 2-3 weeks) and see who can take on new tasks,
share ideas and divide up the work!
